Welcome to Ravenwood Cabin

Ravenwood Cabin is not being rented at this time, this post is simply informational and some pictures.

Location, Location, Location,
you may have heard this over used term before,  in the case of Ravenwood Cabin it couldn't be any more valid.

  • Short walk to all the action in town (really short, so short we forget our coats when running to the store or pizza place)
  • Private plowed driveway parks four cars, and yet overflow (or stormy weather) parking on main street is only 75 feet away
  • Hidden behind a stand of fir trees assures privacy
  • Government Camp is the closest community to all Ski areas.
  • Level driveway just ten feet from front door, makes hauling groceries and gear a snap. (don't underestimate this importance with  winter weather)
  • Your own snow pile for sledding, right in front on our closed street (courtesy of the local snowplows)
  • Ski the trails from Timberline to  Ravenwood and all of Govy
  • Walk to Ski Bowl East, (our own backwoods trail ) come back for lunch or dinner

Here are some things you need to know before you stay at Ravenwood
  1. You must enjoy yourself.
  2. see number 1

Always a holiday at Ravenwood
This mountain house is located in the center of Mt. Hood's ski area. You can walk to Ski Bowl and Summit Ski areas, or take a short drive to Mt. Hood Meadows or Timberline. Ravenwood cabin is located on the Government Camp Business Loop road just across the street from the Village Grocery Store. The cabin's stone fireplace and all wood interior with open beam ceilings, is warm and comfortable. The master bdrm has a king, and is just right for a couple. Three bdrms, two bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen, just bring your food and make yourself at home. Kids are welcome, (pets are not) there are plenty of sliding hills very close and on the property. View Mt. Hood from the front windows and relax with a hot drink.

Renting a ski cabin in Government Camp[

Just in case you need some help; here are some things to think about before renting vacation rentals on Mt Hood.
Lets see  ---   have you thought about how far it is to walk into the cabin when your car is stuck in the snow down on the business loop (main street) Snow plows don't plow every time you happen to be driving around. Consider others in your group! will they be able to handle the walk?

Is there a covered porch to get out of the rain or snow? Is it less than ten feet from the car?

Parking  --  can you park out front? is it level? will you get stuck if it snows a foot overnight? how about two feet?  is there room for four + cars? do you have to buy a parking permit?

Skiing --  can you ski right up to the front door? can your children play safely around the house? build caves, snowmen, go sledding after dark under a big floodlight in the yard?

Can you walk in two minutes or less to the liquor and grocery store?

Does the cabin have enough room for all of you? how about an eleven foot long dining table?

What about check in and out times, can you stay as late as 2pm arrive as early as 3pm?  WELL?

Is the ski cabin really a "ski cabin" or just a glorified condo, or someones fancy home at Mt Hood?

When you rent a vacation rental in Government Camp, it should be a warm inviting "Mountain House" not a second home where you feel like a visitor.

More to come, I gotta go for now.  John
